Nancy J. Willauer age 88 of Marion, Ohio passed away Wednesday, August 24, 2011 at her residence.
She was born August 16, 1923 in Plainfield, NJ., to the late James and May Kathleena (Hoagland) McKerlie-Dodds.
On September 6, 1947 she married Ivan L. Willauer, he preceded her in death on March 30, 1998.
Nancy graduated from Wheaton College in Wheaton, IL. in 1946 with a B.S. in Christian Education. She was employed by the Marion County Council of Churches to teach Religious Education in the public schools to third and fourth grades. She was a member of the Marion City Board of Education from 1980 – 1997, also served as District Director for the Ohio PTA and later represented Marion on the Ohio School Boards Association and the Tri-Rivers Board of Education. She was also involved for many years with the Boy Scouts of America.
She is survived by a daughter, Rebecca Willauer of Marion, OH., four sons, Nathaniel (Debbie) Willauer of Marion, OH., Timothy Willauer of Marion, OH., Peter (Marian) Willauer of Harpers Ferry, W.VA., Jonathan (Anne) Willauer of Winston Salem, NC., seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren, two sisters, Mimi Umschied of Tucson AZ., Jessica Aldridge of Tucson, AZ.
Nancy was preceded in death by a son, John J. Willauer and a sister, Sybil.
Funeral Services for Nancy will be held Wednesday, August 31, 2011 @ 11 AM at Cornerstone Alliance Church, 2010 Marion-Marysville Rd. with Pastor Tim Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Chapel Heights Memory Gardens. Visitation for family and friends will be held Tuesday, August 30, 2011 from 2-4 and 6- 8 PM at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family in care of the Boyd-Born Funeral Home.
