Lori A. Potts, 44, of Marion

Lori A. Potts, 44, of Marion died unexpectedly Saturday May 29, 2010 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus.

She was born in Steubenville, Ohio on December 29, 1965, the daughter of the late Edgar R. and Nancy Yvonne (Alloway) Potts.

She was a graduate of Marion Harding High School in the class of 1983; the same year the family moved to the area.

Lori was also a graduate of MarionTech where she received her license as a surgical nurse.  Due to her devotion to her parents and their failing health, Lori never practiced as a nurse, instead acting as her parent’s caretaker.

After the death of her parents she started work at Scioto Shoes as their assistant manager.  Lori immersed herself in her job and loved the people she worked with; they were her second family.  It didn’t hurt that Lori had an infatuation with shoes.

To say Lori was a collector would be an understatement. There are many memories stowed away in her home.  She was very meticulous and was infamous for her alphabetical lists.

She loved NASCAR and her favorite driver, Dale Earnhardt, Jr. and if you called on race day she would let you know.  She was also a fan of RAW and the Cleveland Browns and the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Skilled in hand crafts, Lori enjoyed quilting, sewing, and needlepoint.

She will be deeply missed by her neighbors.  Lori was always helping out in any way she could; mowing the grass, making meals, or babysitting animals.

Most importantly, Lori will be remembered as someone who cared about those around her and that attitude reflected in her actions.  If a friend or family member was in need, Lori was there for them without question.

Her memory will live on in her brothers and sisters; Ken R. (Linda) Potts of River Falls, Wisconsin, Deborah (Orrin) Summers of Baldwin, Wisconsin, Ally Stuart of Boyceville, Wisconsin, Kathy (Bill) Peabody of Roberts, Wisconsin, and Nancy (Mark) Springborn of Glenwood City, Wisconsin; her aunt Betty Findling of Burgettstown, Pennsylvania; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Friends may call on the family on Wednesday June 2, 2010 from 4-6 p.m. at the Denzer-Farison-Hottinger & Snyder Funeral Home, 360 East Center Street, Marion, Ohio 43302.

Memorial contributions, if desired, may be made to the local Catholic Church shelter.  Envelopes will be available at the funeral home
