Douglas Thomas Blessing passed away September, 10, 2011 at Marion General Hospital at the age of 79.
He was born June 2, 1932 in Paintsville, KY to William and Exer (Childers) Blessing who both preceded him in death as well as his sister, Willa Mae (Franklin) Wolf.
Douglas is survived by his wife of fifty years, Darlynn (Newell) Blessing, whom he married December 10, 1960; three sons, Gregory D. Blessing, William Jeffrey (Jennifer) Blessing, and Jonathan A (Tera) Blessing; granddaughters Loren (Jerry) Peterson, Lindsey (Arick) Miller, and Alex Raquel Blessing, two great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, a sister-in-law, LaDonna Killinger, as well as other family members.
He was employed for overy thirty years at the former Marion Power Shovel where he retired as a supervisor, then spent several years working for Acruxx Security after his retirement. He was a member of the Good Faith Baptist Church. He had a love of gardening, but especially loved his family dearly.
Calling hours will be held Wednesday, September 14, 2011 from 4:30PM to 8:30PM at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home, and a graveside service is scheduled Thursday, September 15, 2011 at 11:00AM at the Marion Cemetery with the Rev. Barkley Slone presiding.
