Jack V. Chevalier Jr., 87, of Marion

Jack V. Chevalier Jr. age 87 of Marion, Ohio passed away Thursday, September 29, 2011 at his residence. He is resting waiting for the 2nd coming of Jesus, to be raised for eternal life in God's presence.

He was born March 2, 1924 in Toledo, Ohio to the late Jack V. and Thelme I. (Dawson) Chevalier Sr.

On July 11, 1946 he married Sally A. (Patterson) Chevalier.

Jack was a U.S. Army veteran serving during WWII as a Sergeant, where he received the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon with two Bronze Stars, Good Conduct Medal and World War II Victory Medal. He was employed for several years at Schlaret's Transfer and American Freight as a truck driver. He is a long time and active member of Marion Seventh-Day Adventist Church. In his spare time Jack enjoyed golfing, fishing, chair caneing and wood working.

He is survived by his wife, Sally A. Chevalier of Marion, four sons, Jack V. (Naomi) Chevalier III of Marion, Douglas W. (Cheryl) Chevalier of Marion, Richard L. (Karen) Chevalier of Marion, Martin T. (Tania) Chevalier of Marion, a daughter, Belinda K. (Paul) Shuster of Marion, 18 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren, a sister, Sandra Walker of Marion, a half brother, Brian Chevalier, brother in law, Homer Wells of Marion, and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

He was preceded in death by a son, Charles R. "Charlie" Chevalier, 4 brothers, Kenny, Curley, Chuck and Skeet, 2 sisters, Lil and Marge, 1 granddaughter and 1 great grandson.

Funeral services for Jack will be Monday, October 3, 2011 @ 10 AM at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home with Pastor Marcellus de Oliveira officiating. Burial will follow at Grand Prairie Cemetery with the Marion County Veterans Council holding a military service.

Visitation for family and friends will be Sunday, October 2, 2011 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home.
