Douglas Edward Carter, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday morning, September 14, 2011, at the Edgewood Manor Care Center in Westerville. He was 32 years young.
On August 27, 1979, Douglas was born in Marion, Ohio, the son of Dianna (Weddington) Ogle and Michael Carter.
Douglas graduated from the West Central High School in Columbus in 1998, a school for the developmentally disabled. Since graduating, he was attending Bixby Living Skills.
A very bright young man, Douglas had a “great” and at times ornery personality and always did his best to overcome being born blind. He had a love for swimming and for his special bean bag chair. Shower time was also one of his favorite parts of the day.
His family would like to extend a heartfelt “thank you” to the Morse Road Group Home for their loving and tender care of Douglas.
He will be dearly missed by his mother, Dianna (Keith) Ogle of Bexley; his father, Michael (Cheryl) Carter of Marion; a sister, Tawny (Ben) Giles, and their children: Haylee and Morgan Giles; two brothers: Joshua and Jason Lisheid; two uncles, Dan (Valerie) Weddington, and Michael Decker; and two aunts: Linda (John) Detwiler, and Paula (Monte) Noyes.
Douglas was preceded in death by his grandparents and an aunt, Debra Decker.
His family will honor and celebrate Douglas’ life on Tuesday, October 4, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of Christ in Christian Union, 1709 Bellefontaine Ave., Marion, with Pastor John Burr officiating. Inurnment will follow in Fairview Cemetery in La Rue.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in care of the funeral home to assist his family with expenses.
