Marion County Republican Club officers were elected and Central and Executive Committeemen were sworn in at the bi-annual re-organizational meeting recently at GOP Headquarters. All positions are for a two-year term.
John R. Matthews II, of Caledonia, begins his third two-year term as party chairman. Matthews stressed more active party participation in all GOP activities as well as focusing on growing the party.
Serving with him are Roy Loudenslager, first vice chairman beginning his third term; Ryan Schertzer, second vice chairman, beginning his first term; as is Lisa Hoback, treasurer; Sharon Russell, secretary starting her 11th year, and Mary Shafer, parliamentarian in her third term.
Also named were Karyle Mumper, immediate past chairman and Joan Steward, chairwoman, starting her ninth term.
Matthews is a life-long resident of Marion, a 1984 graduate of Harding High school, a 1989 graduate of The Ohio State University, and a licensed social worker and chemical dependency counselor II. The chairman and his wife, Susan, have three boys, Ethan, Jonathan and Alexander. Matthews represents Tully Township as a committeeman.
Matthews announced that the Annual Republican Golf Outing will be held June 14 at the Marion Country Club with check-in at 11:00 am and a shot gun start at 12:45 pm. Dinner, open to non-golfers as well, is at 5:45 pm with Kevin DeWine, chairman of the Ohio Republican Party as speaker. Interested persons may contact Matthews at 740/387-0667.
