The Marion County Fairgrounds will roar Thursday night with the annual National Tractor Pull in the grandstands. Earlier in the day, the tractor pulls will be using kid power as children are invited to try their hand at the pedal tractor pull in the coliseum. The fair has also announced there will be no fireworks this year.
Fair organizers say the fireworks that were scheduled for Wednesday were cancelled due to the storms. Because of other entertainment scheduled through the rest of the fair, they are unable to reschedule the fireworks this year.
In order to set off the fireworks, the grandstand grounds must be cleared out and the entertainment already schedule prevents that from happening. While the fireworks have been postponed in the past, organizers say they can’t remember the last time they were cancelled completely.
Rides open at noon. The National Tractor Pull starts at 7:30 pm. The Pedal Tractor Pull takes place at 2:00pm.
Throughout the day there will be competitions including small animal judging, goats, poultry, sheep fitting, beef, and the horse associate show.
