State Rep., Farm Bureau to Co-Host Shale Town Hall Meeting

State Representative Dorothy Pelanda along with Korre Boyer, Organization Director for the Marion County Farm Bureau Federation, will host a public forum on Monday, July 9, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. at the Tri-Rivers Career Center, 2222 Marion Mt. Gilead Rd., to discuss shale issues facing the county.

Guest speakers will include Mac Swinford, Chief of the Division of Geological Surveys for the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Ferzan Ahmed, Ohio Department of Transportation District 6 Deputy Director, and Dale Arnold, Director of the Ohio Farm Bureau Foundation.

Specifically, ODNR will be on hand to discuss shale geology, leases will be covered by the Farm Bureau Foundation and ODOT will be speaking to infrastructure.

“Similar meetings on shale development have been held throughout the state but because of its complicated and important nature I wanted to bring key people to the district to discuss its impact to Marion County residents,” Representative Pelanda said. “I am especially pleased to have such knowledgeable individuals on hand to address those issues Marion County citizens might have. “

“Oil and gas exploration is very exciting in Ohio and people need to be educated about what’s going on,” Boyer added.

For questions please contact Representative Pelanda at 614-466-8147 or Korre Boyer, Marion County Farm Bureau Federation at 419-747-7488.
