From the simulator to the airfield, you can learn to fly a radio-controlled airplane, helicopter or quad-copter on Saturday, August 23, 2014 as the Marion Airfoils host their annual open house at the club’s airfield on Herr Road from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Visitors will be able to fly on a simulator and also try their hands at real radio control flight with the help of club members. Members will demonstrate radio control flight using various gas, nitro and electric powered aircraft, including quad-copters, helicopters, miniature aircraft and scale size radio control airplanes.

During the open house, club members will demonstrate the aerobatic capabilities of their radio control model planes and helicopters and share their hobby with others. If you currently have a radio control aircraft and need help getting it in the air or are just thinking about the hobby, you are invited to join the Marion Airfoils for this event.

If you or your child have thought about entering the hobby, you are encouraged to attend this Saturday’s event and talk with club members who can help you enter the hobby.

The open house is free and open to the public and a hot dog lunch will be provided.

Rain date for the event will be Sunday, August 24, 2014 at the same time.

Persons who wish to become a member may do so during the open house and that membership will be good for the rest of 2014 and for all of 2015. For more information, contact Tom Danner at [email protected].
