Nashville duo Jenny & Tyler will bring their unique fusion of Jazz, Rock and Soul to Marion Friday (April 16) in a 7:00pm concert at Central Baptist Church, 2816 Marion-Waldo Rd., Marion.
The concert is free and open to the public.
Known for their percussive guitar, soaring vocals and tight harmonies, Jenny & Tyler have produced two albums wrapped in a sound one fan dubbed ’soulgrass’.
Born in Wilmington, Delaware, in a home drenched in jazz and Barbra Streisand, Tyler was raised to the tune of his father’s original compositions and his mother’s voice crooning jazz standards. It wasn’t long before Tyler picked up a guitar and began writing music of his own.
Jenny grew up steeped in “old-timey” tradition. Bluegrass and Southern Gospel formed the soundtrack of her early years, and she, too, began to find a home for self-expression in the art of songwriting.
In the fall of 2004 Jenny and Tyler met on a bus taking them from the University of Delaware to church. Almost immediately they began writing songs together. The couple married in 2007, between the production and release of their first record, A Prelude.
“Seeing Jenny & Tyler perform is like being invited into their home as an old friend,” said Ryan Strother, pastor of Central Baptist Church. “They are great musicians, but even more, they share deep parts of themselves in honest and engaging ways.”
