The Friends of the Marion Public Library annual book sale is June 19, and 20 at Tri-Rivers Career Center, 2222 Marion-Mt. Gilead Road. The Friends have been collecting good clean books and audio visual material the past several weeks for this event.
There will be a “Members only” sale on Thursday, June 17, from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Memberships start at $5 per person and are necessary to shop at this sale. Memberships may be purchased at the circulation desk at the library or at the door the night of the sale.
Saturday, June 19, from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm the sale is open to the public. Hardback books are priced at $1 each. Paperback books will sell for 50 cents or 3-for-$1. There will be some audio visual material, and special value books that will be individually priced.
Sunday, June 20, from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm books will be $3 per box. Patrons may bring any size box and some boxes will be available.
Members of “Friends” will begin to organize the books on Monday, June 14, and volunteers willing to help may come to the school any time between 9:00 am and 4:00 pm that week. Volunteer help is vital and there will be help getting started for new people.
Books are no longer being accepted at the library but may be dropped off at the school during the week of the sale. Please no magazines, Readers Digest Condensed Books or National Geographic. These may be donated to other charities.
Proceeds from this sale help provide programs that the library presents during the year. It is used for speakers, refreshments, materials and other needs of the library as they give programs for all ages from infancy to adulthood. The main library and all of its branches benefit.
The success of this sale depends on the community to patronize the sale, donate books and help with set-up and clean up. Anyone with questions may contact Janet Padrutt at 740-389-1256.
