Now in its twelfth season, The Ohio State University at Marion’s popular Kids’ College summer day camp program has partnered with Time Warner Cable to continue emphasizing the importance of keeping young minds active through hands on learning and exploration.
Kids’ College, sponsored by Time Warner Cable, will begin its first of three unique four-day summer learning sessions June 21-24, the second session will run June 28-July 1, and the third session July 12-15. Offerings for 2010 include: Science Rocks!!!, Alley-Oop, CSI Marion, Passport to Fishing, Hippie Art, Computer Camp, and two sessions of the ever popular Lego ® course Vehicle Engineering.
The continued goal of the Kids’ College program is to offer summer enrichment experiences that are designed to expand the horizons of young adventurers from age 7 to 12 and to introduce them to higher education and the college campus. Kids’ College serves to motivate area young people to learn and explore the world around them in a host of interesting subjects ranging from art and technology to sports and engineering.
Ohio State Marion’s 2010 summer day camp series offers the opportunity for kids to do their own hands-on science experiments, investigate a crime scene, learn the positive attributes of sports and teamwork, create amazing art, learn how to fish, learn how to create an online video, and learn how to use very advanced LEGO parts and pieces, while imparting knowledge that will serve them in the classroom and beyond.
The program has been offered to the children of Crawford, Delaware, Hardin, Marion, Morrow, Union, and Wyandot Counties by The Ohio State University at Marion since 1999.
Costs for courses range from $55 to $65 per session. Class fees are reduced for three or more registrations from one family. A limited number of need-based scholarships are available. If enrolled in two classes the same week, there will be a supervised break between sessions, and a box lunch will be available. (However, children with special dietary needs must bring their own lunches.) Class sizes are limited, so early enrollment is encouraged. Sessions are subject to cancellation if minimum enrollment is not met.
