Two Arrested for Attempted Burglary

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office says alert neighbors tipped off a homeowner Wednesday to suspicious activity at their home. As a result of the tip, four suspects were arrested for burglary and theft of firearms.

The Sheriff’s Office says on Wednesday, July 28, at 9:18 am they were notified of a possible burglary in progress in the 1800 Block of Linn Hipsher Road. The homeowner, who was not home at the time, was notified by an alert neighbor and the homeowner then contacted the sheriff’s office by calling 911.

Officials say deputies and detectives were responding to the area when a deputy spotted the vehicle matching the description originally obtained by the alert neighbor. Deputies and detectives stopped the vehicle at the US 23 south bound exit ramp to Marion-Williamsport Road and four subjects were taken into custody.

Following interviews, the four suspects, two adults and two seventeen year old juveniles, were arrested for burglary and theft of firearms, both third degree felonies. The two adults were transported to the Multi County Correctional Center and the two juveniles were transported to the Marion Juvenile Detention Center.

The two adults arrested were;

Kyle Steng, 18 years old of 480 S East Street Morral, Ohio.

Kyle Patterson, 18 years old of 743 Blaine Avenue Marion, Ohio.

Marion County Sheriff Tim Bailey is encouraging neighbors to continue to be aware of their surroundings and call law enforcement if they feel something is suspicious or out of place.

“Thanks to an alert neighbor these suspects responsible for this burglary were apprehended moments later and the stolen property was recovered,” explained Bailey.
