Area Churches Providing Free School Supplies to Hundreds of Kids

Richland Road Church of Christ, Fite Memorial Baptist Church, and Trinity Baptist Church in Marion are giving away school supplies for local kids this Saturday and Sunday. Another event on Sunday includes four churches providing school supplies and other services for kids and adults. All of the events are free and open to the general public.

On Saturday, August 7, Richland Road Church of Christ is holding their 13th annual school supply giveaway at 9:00 am. The church is located at 535 Richland Road in Marion says the giveaway will continue while supplies last. It is open to anyone in the community and is operated on a first come first served basis.

Fite Memorial Baptist Church will hold their giveaway on Saturday as well. The event begins at 10:00 am at the church, 497 Davids Street in Marion. Organizers suggest that you get there early and bring your kids along with you.

Trinity Baptist Church, 244 South Main Street in Marion, is holding their school supply giveaway on Sunday, August 8. The day will begin with a free meal at 10:00 am followed by Friendship Sunday services at 11:00 am. The school supply giveaway will then begin at 12:15 pm.

Everyone is invited to the free meal and service even if you have no need for the free school supplies.

The other event on Sunday is a partnership between Emanuel Lutheran Church, First Presbyterian Church, Prospect Street Methodist Church, and First United Church of Christ. The group is holding a Neighborhood Outreach Event starting at 12:30 pm at Emanual Lutheran Church, 241 South Prospect Street in Marion. The event includes free backpacks and school supplies, head checks for lice with coupons for free hair cuts, free hot dogs, chips and drinks, Police with K-9 dogs, games, face painting and more. Praise Teams will be performing throughout the day as well.
