Grant Middle School Student Crowned Miss Teeny Pop

Jennifer Moodie was chosen Miss Teeny Pop 2010 Saturday during competition at River Valley High School. The 11-year also won her age group in all three categories of competition: Modeling, Talent and Commercial.

Moodie is the daughter of Kristie and Larry Moodie, and is in the 6th grade at Grant Middle School.

Moodie said she was “very, very happy “ and that this was her third year in the Miss Teeny Pop competition. She had made the court in 2009 and was so happy to be able to take part in all of the Festival events again this year. 

As Miss Teeny Pop, Moodie will be featured at all Festival activities, including the Festival’s Orville Redenbacher Parade and performing from the main stage. She will also make numerous appearances throughout Ohio during the coming year.

First Runner-up went to 7-year-old Chloe Oliver, who also headed her age group in Talent, as well as taking overall honors in Commercial and Photogenic. The daughter of Marissa and Douglas Oliver, she is in the 2nd grade at George Washington Elementary School.

Ten-year old Faith Colegrove captured Second Runner-up, as well as overall honors in Modeling.  The Heritage Elementary School 5th grader is the granddaughter of Melissa and Paul Hines and the daughter of Tim Colegrove and Paula Hall.

Mackenzie Diehl seized the Third Runner-up position, as well as topping the Modeling and Commercial categories for her age group.  The 5th grade Heritage Elementary student is the 10-year-old daughter of Mark and Jessica Warner.

Fourth Runner-up is 7-year old Sophia Thompson, who also won overall honors in Talent and her age division in Commercial and Photogenic.  The 2nd grade Heritage Elementary School student is the daughter of Michelle and Doug Thompson.

Alexis Ritter is the Fifth Runner-up, and the winner of her age group in Talent.  The 10-year-old daughter of James Ritter and Lorri Shouler is in the 5th grade at Liberty Elementary School.

Contestants competed in three categories, Modeling, Talent and Commercial where contestants perform an “ad” regarding the Marion Popcorn Festival.   Division winners were:

Receiving Rising Star honorable mention awards were:  Liberty Schaber, Jessica Bayles, Sydney Cook, Hanah Reiff, Kaylee Wallace, Aundrea Jordan, and Tylar Saylor.

Hanah Reiff also was named Miss Teeny Congeniality, an award highly prized ad it is voted upon by the contestants and sponsored by Kurry Klingel, Real Living Generations.

Chloe Oliver was the winner of the Joe Maniaci Memorial Photogenic Award.  This is a separate competition and entering is optional.  The results have no bearing on the Miss Teeny Pop results.  Age division winners were:

Miss Teeny Pop director Debara Tinnerello said, “I’d like to congratulate the entire field of 18 contestants as they were all incredibly talented, and I was honored to work with such a great group of girls this year.  Miss Teeny Pop could truly have been anyone of these girls … they all rocked today!”

Event sponsors were Primrose Retirement Center, Tin Duck, and Cici’s Pizza.  Other sponsors included Ann W. Walters, D.M.D, M.S., Carol Ault’s Dance Factory, Carroll’s Jewelers, JoAnn School of Dance, Martha Douce Maniaci & Family, Marion Flower Shop, Office Depot Print & Copy Center, Village Trophy, and Wyandot Popcorn.
