Clare Cooke, George Schram, Kristi Wink, and Johnny Steiner announce auditions for the Palace Theatre’s summer musical Annie. Those interested may audition on Saturday, May 19 & Sunday, May 20. Auditions are from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. each day in the May Pavilion. Participants should enter through the front Pavilion doors.
Children ages 6-15 should report from 1:00-2:30 p.m. For the first round of auditions, children will perform in groups. Individuals wishing to audition for principle parts are asked to come prepared to sing a solo. Auditioners are requested to select a one-minute audition tune that is not from the Annie score. A pianist will be provided. No CDs please.
The orphans range in age from 6-15. Boys and girls alike will be considered for chorus members.
Director Clare Cooke has asked that interested adults report at 2:30 p.m. each day. Adults wishing to participate in the chorus and group dance numbers will also be auditioned in groups. As with the children, adults desiring to audition for a principle role should come with a prepared song (not from the Annie score).
All auditioners should come dressed in casual clothing appropriate for performing choreography. Anyone interested in a principle role should also be prepared to read from the script.
Last performed at the Palace in 2000, Annie is the tale of a spunky Depression-era orphan determined to find her parents who abandoned her years ago on the doorstep of a New York City Orphanage run by the cruel Miss Hannigan. In a fun-filled musical adventure, Annie foils Miss Hannigan's evil schemes, befriends President Franklin Delano Roosevelt, and finds a new family and home in billionaire Oliver Warbucks, his personal secretary Grace Farrell, and a lovable mutt named Sandy.
Performance dates are scheduled for July 14, 20, and 21 at 8:00 p.m. and July 15 and 22 at 2:00 p.m.
Tickets go on sale Monday, June 4 at 9:00 a.m. and are $40 Patrons, $22/$17 Adults, and $12 Children 10 and under.
