Four City Council Committees will meet on Tuesday, March 20, to discuss a variety of issues, including the income tax for the City, traffic on Council Street, janitorial services, and various fund adjustments. They will also get an update on the progress at the new aquatic center.
Finance Committee will meet at 6:30pm to discuss:
- Advertising for bids for janitorial services at City Hall;
- Appropriation adjustments to Sewer Revenue, Strom Water Utility, Debt Service, Capital, Landfill Monitoring and Central Garage Funds;
- Various fund transfers, and;
- An appropriation requested by the Auditor’s Office relating to a refund;
The Finance Committee will continue discussion on making it mandatory to file a City of Marion Income Tax form. They will also continue talk on a proposal by the Mayor to lower the credit given for those City residents who work outside of Marion from 100 percent to 50 percent.
Traffic Commission will meet at 6:45pm to continue discussion on traffic concerns on Council Street, including a proposal to make it a one-way street and/or eliminating parking on one side of the street.
Municipal Services, Parks, and Recreation Committee will meet at 6:50pm to receive an update on the construction of the Lincoln Park Family Aquatic Center with Jeannie Brewer, Aquatics Director.
Legislation, Codes, and Regulations Committee will meet at 7:00pm to review an application to transfer a liquor permit for Third Base Drive Thru, 1129 South Prospect Street.
City Council Committees meet on the second floor of City Hall and all meetings are open to the public.
