The former and current Marion County Recorders were recently honored as Republican of the Month for January and February by the Central Committee of the Marion County Republican Party.
Mary Jo Osmun, recently retired Marion County Recorder for the past eight years was selected for January. February's selection is Karen Douglas, who last month was appointed to fill the vacancy when Osmun retired.
Osmun was recorder for eight years, and prior to that was employed in the Recorder's oficer for 331/2 years. She is an associate member of the Marion County Township Trustees and past vice president of Central Ohio Nemophilia Chapter and a member of the Marion County Republican Club and the Republican Women's Club.
Her church affiliation is Emmanuel Baptist Church where she is a Junior church Leader and a soloist. She and her husband have three married sons and two grandchildren.
Douglas has been employed with the Marion County Recorder's office for 21 years and the past eight years has been microfilm and customer service manager. She has served as vice president and president of the Republican Women's Club and is a member of the Emanuel Baptist Church where her husband, Ron, has served as pastor for over 42 years. The couple has three sons serving in the U.S. Army with tours of duty in Bosnia, Irau, Afghanistan, Germany and Korea, two daughters and nine grandchildren.
She attended the University of Oklahoma and Tennessee Temple Bible School (now Tennessee Temple University).
