Area Girl Scouts are expected to take part in Good Turn Day 2012, on Saturday, March 24, from 9:00am to 2:00pm. Local scouts will collect donations and volunteer at eight Goodwill sites in Marion, Delaware, and Union counties.
Scouts do a ‘good turn’ for the community by collecting used clothing, books, housewares, and other items to be donated to Goodwill. After participating, the girls will receive a patch to recognize their efforts.
“We are excited to take part in this tradition this year” said Bob Jordan, President/CEO of Marion Goodwill Industries. “Good Turn Day is a great opportunity for the Girl Scouts to get involved in their community and see the difference their service can make.”
The event also helps make the public aware of Goodwill’s need for donations of quality, gently used goods. The items collected are sold in Goodwill’s 8 retail stores to support the mission of helping local community members prepare for, find, and retain employment.
