Several Marion Events Planned Around Earth Day

Earth Day is April 22 and there are several events planned for Marion to celebrate, learn, and clean up. Events include a Downtown Marion clean up, concert fundraiser, inter-faith breakfast, kids’ activities, electronics recycling, paper shredding, and more.

The Tenth Annual Downtown Marion Earth Week clean-up and tree-planting ceremony will take place on Thursday, April 19, at Founders Park, the corner of Main and Church Streets, from 12noon to 2:00pm. Work gloves and trash bags will be provided and all volunteers are welcome to come out.

On Saturday, April 21, there will be a variety of activities at the Marion Campus of Marion Technical College and Ohio State University at Marion. The mostly free activities will take place from 10:00am to 1:00pm and include paper shredding by MARCA, stone-fired pizza for sale, a neighborhood clean up, canned food drive, and activities for kids. There will also be a scrap, electronics, and television recycling drop off (TV’s are $15 each due to expense of recycling).
