An early morning crash has caused State Route 4 to be closed just south of the City of Marion. The crash occurred around 3:00am when the Ohio State Highway Patrol says 50-year-old James Walker was southbound on State Route 4 and struck a power pole while attempting to turn onto Gooding Road.
Walker was transported to Marion General Hospital with minor injuries. The patrol says he was wearing a seatbelt, but alcohol may have played a role in the crash.
The patrol says the crash caused several live power lines to fall on the road and railroad tracks. Repairs are taking longer than usual because CSX railroad needed to bring in a truck that was not immediately available. As of 7:30am, the Ohio Department of Transportation reported the repairs could take another 5 hours to complete.
The posted detour is White Oaks Road to Barks Road to State Route 4 or reverse.
