Kindergarten screening has been scheduled for Elgin South Elementary and Elgin West Elementary.
Kindergarten screening will be held at Elgin West Elementary in LaRue on Thursday, May 3 from 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Please call (740) 499-3277 to make an appointment.
Registration will be held at Elgin South Elementary in Prospect on Friday, May 4 from 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Please call (740) 494-2677 to make an appointment.
The Kindergarten Screening process usually takes about one hour. Children will go through various stations that will assess: speech, hearing, letter and number sense, fine and gross motor skills, as well as lots of one-to-one interaction with staff members at the school.
Parents must complete a parent packet and should also bring a birth certificate or mother’s certificate, proof of immunizations, Social Security number, and custody papers (if there has been a divorce/separation).
Children who will be five years old before Aug. 1, 2012 will be eligible for kindergarten and are required by law to register.
Elgin South Principal Mr. Fred Saull and ElginâWest Principal Mrs. Kristin Dyer will be on hand during Kindergarten Screening to meet with parents and discuss any issues that may be on your mind.
