Marion Officers, Deputies Capture Murder Suspect

The Marion Police Department and Marion County Sheriff’s Office assisted the West Jefferson Police Department in locating a man wanted for questioning in a murder that took place Monday, April 23.

After several hours of investigating leads and tips on the whereabouts of the suspect, officers and deputies surrounded a building at Fairview Apartments and searched for the suspect door-to-door. Investigators say they used the suspect’s cell phone to narrow their search to the apartment complex.

Police located the suspect, 24-year-old Tane Osborne, at 216 Libby Lane, where he turned himself into authorities. The arrest was made at about 3:00am Tuesday.

Osborne was taken to the Multi-County Jail to await extradition to West Jefferson on a charge of murder. He is accused of shooting a woman several times outside of the home of another man. She died at a hospital.
