John Matthews has been named Republican of the Month for March by the Marion County Executive Committee. He has served as chairman of the Marion County Republican Party for almost six years and has been affiliated with the party for over a decade.
Additionally, he has served as advisor to the Harding Area Young Republicans which serves Crawford, Marion, Morrow and Wyandot counties.
Matthews is Director for Claims Support for the Ohio Industrial Commission and was elected this month to the Ohio Republican Party Central Committee serving the 26th District, which includes Marion, Morrow, Crawford, Union, Sandusky Seneca and Wyandot Counties. He holds a B.A. degree from The Ohio State University and has completed Field Operations Training with the Republican National Committee and Campaign Management Training with the Ohio Republican Party. His memberships in addition to the local Republican Party include the National Rifle Association and the Buckeye Firearms Association.
He and his wife, Susan, have three sons, Ethan, a sophomore at the University of Toledo, and Jonathon and Alexander who attend River Valley Schools. The family lives in Tully Township on a 9.8 acre farm.
