The Marion Area Genealogy Society (MAGS) held its 26th Annual Banquet on Saturday, April 7, 2012. First Family of Marion County awards were presented to Mary Reinhart, Stuart Koblentz, Martin Shelton, Rachel Shelton, and Michael McLaughlin. Their ancestors’ surnames included Fickle, Free, Gregory, Harvey, Spangler, Tipton, Uncapher, and Williams.
Mary Reinhart also proved Spangler ancestors for Civil War Families of Marion County.

The First Families of Marion County award is awarded to those people who are able to prove a direct line of ancestry back to an individual who lived in Marion on or prior to 1850. You must be a member of MAGS to apply and the awards are issued only once a year in March.
MAGS is open to anyone interested in genealogy or general history. They meet once a month on the first Saturday of the month at 10:00am, usually at the Marion Historical Society (MHS). Some meetings are in other locations.

- December 1 – 10:00 A.M. – Church – Christmas Celebration
