The Marion Police Department says a Marion man was found dead Saturday, May 12, 2012 from an accidental drowning while fishing at Quarry Park.
Police received a 911 call on Saturday at just after 10:00am saying a person had been found face down in the water at Quarry Park, 1202 Hillman-Ford Road.
Investigators say Charles Hill, 38, of Marion, had gone fishing alone at Quarry Park at about 5:30am on Saturday. A friend was looking for Hill, who was not answering his phone, and was directed by two other fishermen to where Hill’s vehicle was parked. The two other fishermen then assisted the friend in searching for Hill, who was discovered in face down in the water about three to four feet from the bank.
Hill was pulled onto the bank where CPR was performed. Police say Hill had no pulse and was not able to be revived.
Investigators, who described the incident an accidental drowning, say Hill had a history of seizures. Hill’s body will be sent to the Franklin County Morgue for an autopsy.
