The Marion Police Department says there were two reports of gun shots in Marion on Saturday, May 12. No victims have come forward and police are still investigating leads.
At 11:30am, there were calls received of shots fired near the intersection of Leader and Chestnut Streets. Officers responded and were told that five black males in a small, newer, white car with dark-tinted windows had fired shots at a black male who was walking on the sidewalk. Witnesses told police that the suspects’ vehicle fled the scene and the victim got in a white mid-size car with a black female and left the area.
Investigators say they found shell casings at the scene.
At 11:48am, another call was received of a shot being fired in the 600 block of Henry Street. A witness told police they saw a black male, who was walking, arguing with another black male, who was driving a small black car. The witness then heard one loud gunshot and then saw the car leave the area and the person who walking fleeing the area.
Neither the person on foot nor the person driving was located.
