Construction Will Mean Temporary Water Service Interruptions

The Marion Division of Aqua Ohio (recently acquired from Ohio American Water) is working with the City of Marion to improve water system infrastructure during planned construction by the City over the summer. The City is improving its sewer system under Oak, Robinson and May Streets. Because these projects involve open cuts into these streets, Aqua says they are taking advantage of the opportunity to install aging infrastructure to help improve the water quality, pressure, reliability and fire service in the area.

“By coordinating these projects with the City, Aqua is able to make these improvements to the system and we’ll minimize inconvenience to residents, keep costs low and reduce the number of cuts through the road bed,” said Scott Ballenger, Marion Area Manager of Aqua Ohio.

This coordination will help minimize inconvenience to residents but temporary service interruptions will be necessary as portions of the water system are replaced.

The expected interruptions are as follows:

  • OAK STREET— Water service between Tully and Fairground will be interrupted intermittently between July 30th and August 27th . The project will involve the replacement of approximately 37 residential services and new meter pit installations. Once water service restored after the interruption, residents should let cold water run until clear (which may take a few seconds).
  • ROBINSON STREET—Water service between Littleton and Robinson will be interrupted intermittently between June 25th and July 3rd as the water main servicing the area is lowered and replaced to allow storm sewer installation. The project involves lowering water mains, service relocations and replacements with new meter pit installations, and a hydrant relocation. Once water service restored after the interruptions, residents should let cold water run a few seconds until clear.
  • MAY STREET—Water service along the length of the street will be interrupted between June 30th and July 4th as the main servicing the area is replaced. Once water service is restored after the irruptions residents should let cold water run a few seconds until clear.
