After a relatively short delay, the City of Marion’s new Lincoln Park Family Aquatics Center will open to the general public on Wednesday, June 6, 2012. The Aquatics Center will be open daily from 12:00 – 8:00 pm, weather permitting.
Jeannie Brewer, Aquatics Center Director, says they have been holding preview nights for specific groups and for season pass holders. On Monday, even with the cool temperatures, Brewer said over 325 people had visited.
For those worried that the water may be too cold this week, Brewer said the water is heated and that heater will now be keeping the water at a temperature of at least 81 degrees.
While the center will be fully open starting Wednesday, there are still some details to finish up. The permit for the concession stand has not yet been completed, but they will have packaged foods and drinks for sale while they finish obtaining the permit. The new grass also needs some more time to develop, so there will be some restrictions on where you can set up chairs.
Daily admission prices are as follows:
- Ages 13 and up (includes adults and seniors) $5.00
- Ages 4 – 12 $3.00
- Ages 3 and under Free
- Annual memberships will be available for purchase
All children ages 11 and under must be accompanied by an adult or an individual that is 16 years of age or older.
Those visiting the Aquatics Center are encouraged to bring their own lawn/beach chair and for the near future will be asked to stay off the newly installed sod. Guests will not be permitted to bring personal coolers, food or beverages into the facility.
