Ohio tax revenue continues to hum along at a solid pace, finishing above estimates for the month of May and bringing total surplus revenue to nearly $400 million for the year.
Eleven months into the fiscal year, state tax receipts are 2.3 percent above estimates, after collections in May came in 2.7 percent above what was expected. Sales-tax collections are up 6.4 percent over the same period last year, and income taxes are up 3.4 percent.
Lawmakers have no plans to spend the excess money.
