Local Law Enforcement Raising Funds for Kids

The Marion County Fraternal Order of Police, which represents law enforcement personel from the Marion Police Department and Marion County Sheriff’s Office, has started its 2012 phone solicitation campaign to raise funds for various activities, including the Cops and Kids Program and Safety City. The campaign will run for the next four weeks.

“The Marion County Fraternal Order of Police is very grateful for the money that citizens of this community have given to help us help children in need,” stated FOP President Chris Adkins. “The Marion community has given time and time again and we are very thankful for the opportunity that it provides in giving to children in need.”

Cops and Kids is an annual event which was formerly known as “Shop with a Cop.” Each child receives money to buy Christmas presents for his or her family as well as something for themselves. In addition, the child receives a gift card to help the family during the Holiday season.

Safety City is a non-profit organization that provides fire and stranger education to young children throughout Marion County.

If you have questions or concerns about the campaign, or would like to donate, you can email the lodge at [email protected].
