The Ohio State Highway Patrol says they arrested a Marion man Wednesday morning after he led them on a high speed chase and then ran from his vehicle on foot. The suspect managed to hide from authorities for hours before being located.
At about 2:15 am Wednesday, the Patrol says a trooper from the Marion Post attempted to pull over Zachary Anderson, aged 25, for a violation of failure to yield. Instead of stopping, the Patrol says Anderson continued driving south on State Route 423 and then entered U.S. 23. Anderson’s truck eventually crashed into a ditch at the intersection of U.S. 23 and Irwin Road which is located south of State Route 229 in Delaware County.
Investigators say Anderson fled on foot into a cornfield following the crash.
A special response team from the Patrol and a Delaware County Sheriff’s Office K-9 unit responded to the scene and began searching. The Patrol says Anderson was finally located at about 8:20 am hiding in a culvert near the intersection of State Route 229 and U.S. 23.
