Police Make Arrests in Church Break In and Vandalism

The Marion Police Department says they arrested three juveniles accused of breaking into a church, stealing several items, and vandalizing the sanctuary. During the investigation, the department says they arrested two more juveniles and seized more than three pounds of marijuana.

On Tuesday, July 10, Marion Police Department’s Lt. Adkins and Ptl. Ratterman responded to Family Life Church on Lee Street for a breaking and entering call. Several items were reported stolen and the sanctuary was covered in derogatory spray painting.

The investigation led to a search warrant served in the 400 block of Milburn Avenue. Police say that nearly all of the stolen merchandise was recovered and three juveniles, ages 15, 16, and 16, were arrested and taken to the Juvenile Detention Center on charged of breaking and entering and vandalism.

During the investigation of the church break-in, and while searching for suspects, officers served a search warrant in the 230 block of East Center Street looking for drugs. Police say they located over 3 pounds of marijuana inside.

Two juveniles, both aged 17, that reside at the residence were arrested on charges of Trafficking in Marijuana and taken to the Juvenile Detention Center.

Both cases will be forwarded to the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office for the filing of formal charges.
