Water Company – No Service Disruptions from Storms

In the wake of severe storms and widespread loss of electricity in areas of the state, Aqua Ohio (Aqua) reports that there have been no interruptions to water service in Marion.

“System reliability is a key priority and we’re very pleased that Aqua Ohio did not have any water outages in the Marion division,” Aqua Ohio President Ed Kolodziej said.  “We had employees monitoring the weather and immediately after the storms passed they were inspecting our tanks and booster stations and assessing any damages.”

He noted that customers don’t typically consider how a power outage affects a water system.  However, treatment facilities, pumps and computerized monitoring equipment are all impacted by loss of electricity.  Aqua uses backup generators to provide power for key components of the system.

Kolodziej said Aqua’s ongoing commitment to maintain and upgrade the water distribution system prepares the company to meet customer demand, even during challenging times.

“Our capital investments in the water system are focused on maintaining a reliable system for our customers,” Kolodziej said.  “Equally important is Aqua’s dedicated and committed workforce, which is well trained and prepared to respond quickly in the event of an emergency.  Our employees worked diligently to ensure that water service was maintained after the storms.”

Kolodziej said Aqua will continue to work with the community as it recovers from the storm damage and appreciates customers’ patience and understanding as infrastructure repairs are made.
