MARMET Arrests 15 in Operation Vigilance

The MARMET Drug Task Force, in conjunction with the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office, says a nearly six month investigation, called Operation Vigilance, into the sale of illegal drugs in the Marion area resulted in several search warrants executed on Friday, August 3. As a result of the raids, 15 people were arrested on drug related and other charges.

Four search warrants were served in conjunction with this case. Investigators say these search warrants yielded a significant amount of heroin, prescription medications, marijuana, nearly $5,000 in cash, and a firearm.

MARMET was assisted by the Marion Special Response Team, Ohio State Highway Patrol Special Response Team, and Deputies from the Marion County Sheriff’s Department.

“In January, after the layoffs of several local law enforcement personnel, I stated drugs would remain a high priority, and we would remain vigilant in the investigation of drug dealers,” explained Major Bill Collins stated. “Today justifies that statement, and we will continue this effort in the days and months to come.”

Those arrested included:

  • Ronnie Farley, 26, of 581 Mary Street, Marion, for trafficking in drugs.
  • Greg Marshall, 30, of 607 ½ Herman Street, Marion, for trafficking in drugs and having a weapon under disability.
  • Michael McCall, 36, of 264 S. State Street, Marion, for trafficking in drugs.
  • Shane Zuspan, 22, of 436 Cherry Street, Marion, for trafficking in drugs.
  • Rachad Scott, 29, of 345 E. Church Street, Marion, for trafficking in drugs.
  • Brice Chaney, 22, of 341 E. Church Street, Marion, for trafficking in drugs.
  • Lora Trail, 38, of 335 ½ E. Church Street, Marion, for permitting drug abuse.
  • Kandias Wrick, 26, of 279 ½ S. High Street, Marion, for trafficking in drugs.
  • Justin Smith, 29, of 492 N. Prospect Street, Marion, for trafficking in drugs.
  • Rita Smith, 60, of 492 N. Prospect Street, Marion, for permitting drug abuse.
  • Deaudrick Volney, 22, of 759 Gill Avenue, Marion, for trafficking in drugs.
  • Marlon Powers, 21, of 225 Lawrence Avenue, Marion, for trafficking in drugs.

The following were arrested during the roundup on unrelated charges.

  • Josh Stanley, 22, of 352 E. Farming Street, Marion, for failure to appear.
  • Rashawn Thomas, 24, of 624 Girard Avenue, Marion, for failure to appear.

Several more people are being sought relative to this case and the investigation is continuing.
