The Marion Palace Theatre has released the 2012-2013 line-up for entertainment slated for the Palace stage. Tickets for all shows, which include Bob Hope, the Monkees, Little River Band, and more, are now on sale.
The Lennon Sisters – Sunday, October 7 at 3pm — America fell in love with them as the girls next door. For 13 years on “The Lawrence Welk Show,” they charmed the nation with their sweet-voiced harmonies. Now performing as a trio, Kathy, Janet, and Mimi are continuing the tradition of excellence, performing for their millions of fans, as well as new generations of admirers.
A Palace Production Christmas at the Palace — Friday, November 30 & Saturday, December 1 at 7:30pm, Sunday, December 2 at 2pm– This annual production traditionally includes a variety of community members in choirs, dance numbers, instrumental ensembles and light-hearted, yet touching, scenes of the season. CHRISTMAS AT THE PALACE is a favorite holiday tradition for many families. This year’s theme is Across the USA and Home Again. Directed by Clare Cooke. Columbus Children’s Theatre Mr. Scrooge – Saturday, December 8 at 2pm — From the snowy streets of 19th century London to the ghostly apparitions of Christmas past, present and future, professional actors vividly portray not just the authentic details but also the emotional impact of Dickens’ holiday tale about Ebenezer Scrooge.
Bob Hope Holiday Road Show – Sunday, December 9 at 2pm — It’s a fun filled, nostalgic trip back to the golden days of radio and a tribute to icons of radio and the silver screen during the holiday season. Complete with on stage announcer and era commercials plus legendary guest stars, W.C. Fields, Jimmy Durante, Jack Benny and Red Skelton-all portrayed by Lynn Roberts. Sponsored by Wyandot.
Micky’s Monkees Christmas — Friday, December 15 at 8pm — Micky Dolenz, the fun-loving, incomparable lead singer of The Monkees gives stirring performances of timeless Christmas classics, surprises for the kids, as well as his Monkees TV mega Top 40 Hits that made Micky Dolenz a household name.
Boardwalk Boys – Saturday, January 19 at 8pm — Four buddies from college reunite for their guy vacation. Songs of The Beach Boys, The Mamas & Papas and many others, help them relive old memories, tackle their girl problems, and take the audience on a musical journey. Features a live band and four Broadway veterans including Ryan J Ratliff.
A Palace Production Fiddler on the Roof — Friday, February 15 & Saturday, February 16 at 7:30 pm, Sunday, February 17 at 2pm — Rich in historical and ethnic detail, FIDDLER ON THE ROOF has touched audiences around the world with its humor, warmth and honesty. The universal theme of tradition cuts across barriers of race, class, nationality and religion, leaving audiences crying tears of laughter, joy and sadness. The Passing Zone in GRAVITY ATTACKS — Saturday, February 9 at 8pm — THE PASSING ZONE (Jon Wee and Owen Morse), as seen on America’s Got Talent, The Today Show, and The Tonight Show, deliver a high-energy, gut-busting theatrical event that includes juggling bowling balls, chain saws, and even people. A thrill for audiences of all ages. The Passing Zone has been awarded 5 Guinness World Records and 18 Gold Medals from the International Juggler’s Association.
Little River Band — Saturday, April 13 at 8pm — One of the great vocal bands of the ’70 and the ’80s. Best known for the following singles: It’s a Long Way There, Help Is on Its Way, Happy Anniversary, Reminiscing, Lady, Cool Change, Lonesome Loser, The Night Owls, Take It Easy On Me, Man On Your Mind, We Two, and The Other Guy. The Alley Cats – Saturday, May 4 at 8pm — A perfect blend of musical talent and comedic timing. The Cats never miss a beat as they sing the greatest songs we all know and love from the 50s & 60s. “Taste of the 50s” pre-show dinner in the May Pavilion. Reservations Required.
People can still become a friend of the Palace by contributing to the Palace Cultural Arts Association membership drive, which includes patron benefits featuring early access to tickets for the entire season. Ticket sales to Palace members begin Monday, August 20 and are stratified by donation level. Ticket sales to the general public begin the following Monday, August 27 at 9:00am.
