The Marion County Commissioner issued a proclamation at their Tuesday meeting honoring Marion Connections/Opportunity Marion for winning an incentive award from the State of Ohio. The award of $34,000 will be shared with Marion Goodwill, Marion Red Cross, and the USO of Central and Southern Ohio.
In announcing the award, the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services’ Office of Workforce Development, Veterans Services, said Marion Connections/Opportunity Marion provides exceptional employment and training services to veterans. A media release stated, “It is apparent your One-Stop staff not only work together to provide comprehensive services, but also to connect veterans to employment and resources in your area.”
The Veterans Ohio Network for Employment (VETS O.N.E) Incentive Award was designed to be donated to 501(c)(3) organizations to provide employment-related services for veterans. With that in mind, the American Red Cross – Marion County Chapter will receive $14,000 and Marion Goodwill and USO of Central and Southern Ohio will each receive $10,000.
The Commissioners also gave special recognition to Ron Meade, Manager of Marion Connections/Opportunity Marion, and his team for working on the grant. Meade also happens to be a U.S. Army veteran.
