The Marion County Council on Aging will be hosting the Fall meeting of Caregiver Connections on Thursday, November 1, with special guest speaker Lieutenant Lance Shearer, Marion State Patrol Post Commander. Lt. Shearer will identify strategies to help you talk to your loved ones about giving up the car keys, and present them with practical transportation alternatives.
When someone has dementia or some other cognitive decline, it is important to know when it is time to stop driving. Lt. Shearer will discuss risk factors and warning signs of unsafe driving.
Caregiver Connections is a quarterly meeting sponsored by the Marion Council on Aging, to provide support and education for local caregivers and others interested in issues of caregiving and dementia. There is no charge to attend, but reservations are limited and necessary.
This meeting will be held at the Council on Aging office, located at 125 Executive Dr. The meeting takes place 11:30 am – 1 pm and lunch will be provided through the generosity of Kingston Residence of Marion.
Call the Council on Aging at 740-387-0401 for reservations and further information.
