Marion Police Investigate Suspicious Death

The Marion Police Department says they are investigating the death of a man that occurred Friday, October 12. While not calling the death a homicide, they say it is being treated as suspicious.

At about 2:40 pm on Friday, the Marion City Fire Department and officers responded to the 250 block of North State Street on a report of a man who was not breathing. Medics arrived to find 57-year-old Mitchell Weller with no vital signs.

While not providing details, police say that given the location of the deceased and other factors, they are calling the man’s death suspicious.

Investigators say they located a female who they believe was the last person to have had contact with Weller. The unnamed woman was arrested on unrelated charges.

Marion County Coroner Dr. Marc Comianos was at the scene and had Weller’s body transported to the Franklin County Coroner’s Office for an autopsy. The results could take a few weeks to be returned.

Investigators are asking anyone with information about this incident to contact the Marion Police Department at 740-387-2525 or the TIPS Line at 740-387-TIPS.
