Marion Republicans Open Headquarters, Vote Against Issue 2

The Marion County Republican Party has announced their headquarters, 114 South Main Street in Marion, will be open from now until the election. The local GOP Central and Executive Committee has also voted unanimously against State Issue 2.

Party Chair John Matthews said State Issue 2, which appears on the November ballot, would drastically change how Ohio’s district lines for state legislative and congressional offices are drawn every 10 years. He stated that it would take the duty of redistricting from the people’s elected representatives and give it to a new, unelected, bureaucratic 12-member commission.

Marion GOP headquarters is now open Monday through Friday from noon to 6:00 pm and will be open all day on Election Day.

Early voting began at the Marion County Board of Election on Tuesday, October 2. Matthews stated that rides to the election board office during the month, or to precincts on election day, are available by calling the headquarters at 740-387-0667.
