Police Identify Suspect in Theft of Two Vehicles

The Marion Police Department has identified the man they say is responsible for stealing two vehicles from a used car lot in Marion. The man crashed one of those vehicles and was sent to a Columbus hospital.

Officers responded on Sunday, October 7, to a breaking and entering report at Hall’s Auto Sales on South Main Street in Marion. Two vehicles were missing from the lot.

During the investigation, police located one of the cars, a 2000 Pontiac Firebird, a short distance away with a flat tire.

The second vehicle, a 2001 Dodge Dakota, was located after the driver crashed the truck in Morrow County at about 2:00 am Monday. The driver was flown to a Columbus hospital in critical condition.

Police identified the driver, 29-year-old Henry Conley of Mansfield, as the suspect in the thefts. Police plan to charge him with two counts of theft of a motor vehicle. Investigators say that evidence collected at Hall’s and evidence taken from Conley’s personal property link him to the crime.

Police say the value of the truck is $6,500 and is a total loss for Hall’s Auto Sales. The Marion Police Department and the Ohio State Highway Patrol are continuing to investigate the case.
