Aqua Ohio Water Company (Aqua) has announced a new water system improvement project in the City of Marion. The $137,000 project involves the replacement of 900 linear feet of aging, undersized water mains, fire hydrants and related infrastructure. It has also required lane restrictions on South Prospect Street between the railroad tracks and Barks Road.
“This project is a continuation of our commitment to replace problematic and undersized water lines in the system,” said Aqua Area Manager, Scott Ballenger. “In order to maintain traffic flow along Prospect Street the construction crew will be drilling under the roadway. Workers will need to restrict traffic flow to a single lane on October 15th, 16th and 17th, and we ask drivers for patience during this project which will increase service reliability and fire protection in the area.”
Key system improvements related to this project include:
- The replacement of 900 feet of 2-inch cast iron water line with an 8-inch water line along Osgood Street which will enhance flow in the area especially during high usage periods,
- Install a new fire hydrant (at intersection of Osgood and Prospect (SR 4)) which will improve fire protection in the area,
- New service connections, meter pits and meters for the properties along the construction route,
- Traffic flow along Prospect Street will be restricted to one lane on October 15th, 16th and 17th with delays possible, especially during peak travel times.
Construction is scheduled to begin October 15th and is expected to be completed by early December. Customers who have questions may call the Aqua Customer Service Center toll-free at 877.WTR.AQUA (877.987.2782).
