Marion Businesses, Schools Earn Food Safety Awards

Marion Public HealthMarion Public Health is congratulating local restaurants and schools who participated in the National Restaurant Association’s annual National Food Safety Education Month this past fall.  This annual food safety campaign strives to build awareness of the restaurant and foodservice industry’s commitment to excellence in food safety education and training.

This year’s winners are MARCA School Cafeteria, Elgin Local Schools, El Campesino, Perkins Family Restaurant, and all students in the Tri Rivers Culinary Arts Program. Tri-Rivers students included Brooke Baker, Portia Brady, Tori Carmickle, Jordan Carver, Dakota Cooper, Sonya Grubb, Kristen Furer, Billy Kumalaa, Charles Lutz, Matt McCombs, Briana Miller, Trevor Sly, Karl Wagner, Kyle White, Bailey Williams, Cassie Butz, Shayla Cunningham, Dan Douglas, Jessica Emler, Jennifer Freeman, Kris French, Brian Granlee, Sarah Houk, Brianna Jordan, Erin Malone, Mariah Matheny, Mike Partipilo, Tre Potter, Jessi Richendollar, Brad Stapleton, Josh Ute, Stormie Wilson, and Kalynn Zuspan.

Marion Public Health worked with the local food businesses to promote National Food Safety Education Month by providing weekly worksheets September through October. Each facility that submitted the completed worksheets correctly by October 31 earned an award.

Marion Public Health believes this award showcases the local businesses’ commitment to food safety and food safety education. They urge you, as a patron, to look for this award when you are entering one of your favorite restaurants.
