You Can Volunteer at the Marion Palace Theatre

Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at 5:00 pm in the Palace Theatre, Palace volunteer board president Tyler Pigman will meet with potential Palace volunteers during an orientation session.  The Palace hopes to build a volunteer corps with people ranging from juniors in high school to retirees that wish to give back to the community.

The volunteers are growing as an organization, and to help facilitate that growth, those attending the orientation will receive an updated manual, bylaws, and a signup sheet for volunteering at upcoming events.  This training session will last approximately one hour and cover the various ways volunteers can lend a helping hand.  The topics to be covered are dress code, procedures, and how individuals sign up to help at the Theatre.

There is a large list of positions available when considering volunteering at the Palace. The jobs at the Palace include, but are not limited to: kiosk ticket sales agent, ticket taker, greeter, program passer, coat room attendant, performance usher, backstage crew, show projectionist, concession stand worker, bartender, hospitality associate and Arts Palace classroom helper.  Volunteers can even assist off-site by delivering posters, table tents and other marketing materials.  Volunteers are able to match interests and talents and spend as little or as much time as they would like helping out.

Facility Use Coordinator, Jill Rinker states, “Volunteers are the backbone of the Marion Palace Theatre and it is with volunteer efforts that the theatre remains the pride and joy of downtown Marion. Without our dedicated volunteers, the Marion Palace Theatre would be non-existent.  Thanks to these folks who dedicate time and talents, we continue to keep the theatre’s majestic doors open to welcome friends, families, neighbors and out of town visitors.”

Rinker continues, “The Palace staff and Board of Directors have an enormous amount of gratitude to all of our volunteers who help support the Palace.”

For those who cannot make this meeting, future orientations will occur at least once per quarter so that everyone who wants to be a part of the Palace gets the opportunity to serve.  A spring quarter orientation is scheduled for Saturday, March 2 at 10:00 am.

Interested participants and those with questions are asked to contact Jill Rinker by phone at 740/383-2101 to reserve a space for this orientation.
