The Marion County Sheriff’s Office says a man was arrested after he was found inside a home with a gun and two knives in the early morning hours on Friday, December 28, 2012.
On Friday at approximately 3:40am, a resident from the 1300 block of Lusch Road called the sheriff’s office and reported he heard noises that suggested someone might have broken into his house. A deputy arrived to the scene four minutes later and was told that the noises had come from the basement area of the house, but that the homeowner had checked the basement and no one was located down there.
The deputy checked the scene and noticed that a basement window had been broken out. While he found shoe prints in the snow leading up to the house, he did not see prints that were heading away from the home. The deputy then entered the basement and located a lone white male suspect hiding near the broken window.
The suspect, identified as 23-year-old Kaleb Micah Kantzer of Cardington, was taken into custody. Officials say he possessed a 9mm pistol, which had been secured in a holster on his hip, and two knives. After being taken into custody, Kantzer refused to speak to deputies or be interviewed about this incident. Investigators say a check was completed and Kantzer does not possess an Ohio conceal carry license.
Kantzer was transported to the Marion Multi County Correctional Center aggravated burglary charges. The case is being reviewed by the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office for formal charges.
