City Council to Discuss 2013 Budget

Marion City Council will hold their regular meeting on Monday, December 10, 2012. The full Council meeting will be preceded by a Streets and Sewers Committee meeting. The meeting agendas will include discussion on the 2013 City budget.

The 2013 budget was passed by the Finance Committee earlier this week. While still tight, the budget is not calling for the cuts and layoffs that previous budgets have demanded. You can read more about the Finance Committee meeting by clicking here.

Streets and Sewers Committee meets at 7:15pm to discuss a resolution related to Phase V Signal and the purchase of a Flame Atomic Absorption Spectrometer from Thermo Electron North America LLC for the Water Pollution Control Department.

The full City Council meeting will start at 7:30pm. The agenda includes:

  • approving the fifth year of freezing wages and suspending sick-leave sell back for employees not covered by union bargaining agreements;
  • appropriating $138,267.00 from the Federal Grant Fund paid by the Federal Aviation Administration for the new taxiway construction at the Marion Municipal Airport;
  • various appropriations and fund transfers;
  • discussion of the 2013 City of Marion budget.

Marion City Council meets on the second floor of City Hall and all meetings are open to the public.
