The unemployment rate for Marion County increased slightly in November 2012 to 6.9 percent from 6.8 percent in October 2012. The increase comes with 100 more people listed as unemployed.
For November 2012, Marion County had an available workforce of 29,600, 27,500 people employed, and 2,100 people unemployed.
Marion was not the only area county with an increase. Other than Delaware County, which stayed flat, every county surrounding Marion saw their unemployment increase in November. Only Crawford County has a higher rate than Marion.

The increase in local rates comes in the same month that the statewide rate decreased from 6.9 percent to 6.8 percent. The reason for the disparity is that the statewide number is seasonally adjusted, whereas the local rates are not.
