OhioHealth and Marion Regional Cancer Center (MRCC) announce a new relationship, bringing MRCC into the OhioHealth family of healthcare providers. Coming on the heels of the takeover of Smith Clinic in September, officials say this new relationship will extend the cancer services OhioHealth offers in Marion County and its surrounding area.
“This is an exciting time for OhioHealth Cancer Services,” said Steve Garlock, senior vice president of Cancer Services for OhioHealth. “With the recent opening of the OhioHealth Bing Cancer Center at Riverside Methodist Hospital, expansion of cancer services to our Delaware Health Center and now extending our reach into the Marion community, more OhioHealth patients are going to have convenient options for their care.”
MRCC’s services, which include radiation oncology, will now be managed by OhioHealth Riverside Methodist Hospital and provided by OhioHealth Marion General Hospital.
In addition, MRCC’s radiation oncologist, Dr. Jeanne Ashworth, has joined the OhioHealth Medical Specialty Foundation and will continue to provide radiation oncology care at the facility.
Dr. Ashworth will be joined by a patient navigator, a specially-trained staff member to guide patients through all stages of the cancer treatment and recovery process. The current staff will remain at MRCC and will become Marion General Hospital associates.
“It’s a great opportunity, to be able to join OhioHealth and continue to serve my patients in the Marion community,” said Dr. Ashworth.
