Police Arrest Two After Gunshot Reports

The Marion Police Department says two men were arrested for illegally having firearm. Police had responded to a gunshot report and say there were no injuries in the incident.

On Friday, November 30, 2012, at around 2:30pm, officers responded to the 320 block of Owens Street for a report of shots being fired. A caller reported seeing two males running from the scene. When officers arrived, another caller reported seeing the two men running into an apartment in the Courtyard Apartments complex on Owens Street.

Officers searched an apartment in the complex and said they located four handguns inside. All four firearms were seized.

After questioning, two males located inside the apartment were arrested. Walter Thomas, 31, of 244 Owens Street, and RaShawn Thomas, 24, of 238 Owens Street, were both charged with having weapons under disability and were taken to the Multi-County Correctional Center.

The incident remains under investigation.
