Downtown Marion, Inc. is holding two events to benefit their revitalization efforts. Both events, entitled “Under the Christmas Tree”, will take place at Park Place, 143 West Center Street beside Busby Park.
The first event is a luncheon on Wednesday, December 12, 2012 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Cost of the luncheon is $15 and includes a full buffet. Carryout is available for those on a limited time schedule.
The second event is an auction set for Thursday, December 13, 2012. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. with heavy appetizers, a cash bar, and 15 silent auction packages to peruse. The live auction begins at 6:30 and contains 11 packages worth $500 or more. Cost is $30 per person or $50 per couple.
“The ’Under the Christmas Tree’ events feature items that anyone would like to find under their tree,” said Brenda Johnston, event chair. “We have a lot of great packages including a pearl and diamond ring from Carroll’s Jewelers, an OSU package that features a $500 tuition certificate, and a 10’ x 10’ installed paver patio from EE Johnson.
“There’s also a pet package,” continued Johnston, “a tailgate grill with a great selection of meats, a business package, Cleveland Browns tickets, and so much more … there’s really something for everyone.”
Downtown Marion, Inc. is an independent non-profit whose mission is the revitalization of Downtown Marion. This includes everything from a number of free events, such as the recent Christmas parade and movie and the upcoming Pop N Drop, as well as establishing a beautification program that includes overall clean up, and weeding, mulching and planting the flower beds throughout the Downtown.
“Everything that is being done in Downtown Marion,” said Karen Herr, manager of Downtown Marion, “is for the purpose of attracting new businesses, enhancing current establishments and creating a sense of pride in who we are and what we offer our citizens and guests.
“All of these efforts require funding,” continued Herr, “and these events are a great way to have fun, purchase items for the holidays for yourself or a loved one, and take part in supporting the revival of Downtown Marion.”
